- Charles Santiago is Director of Monitoring Sustainability of Globalization (MSN), a Malaysian based NGO think-tank.
- Charles is a coordinator of a Malaysian based NGO, Group of Concerned Citizens, a minority based group working towards minority democratic participation and empowerment of the poor.
- Charles Santiago worked as the Coordinator, Stamford Center of Economic and Social Research; and Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, Finance and Accounting, Stamford College, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

- Present - Vice Chairman of Selangor DAP
- Charles (with 12 others) has filed a court action to review Minister’s decision to raise water tariff by 15 %. Water tariff will increase by 37% in 2009.

Interests and Activities
Currently his areas of interests and research include Free Trade Agreements, including Asia-Europe trade and security issues; the General Agreement on Trade in Services and its impact on developing nations; bi-lateral and regional trade agreements, water privatization and developing a Bill of Rights vis-à-vis social safety protection.
Most recently, he was involved in formulating the ASEAN Social Charter together with national, regional, global trade unions, think-tanks and civil society in the South East Asian region.
At present, MSN is coordinating a research paper on Malayisa-US FTA, EU-ASEAN FTA and migrant labor in the Asia-Pacific region. Furthermore, MSN is coordinating a regional water privatization research project involving four countries, namely the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.
